Alvin Bragg is the New York County District Attorney. He is the DA overseeing the investigation into the hush money payment former President Donald Trump allegedly authorized to pay off porn star, Stormy Daniels. The allegations relate to Trump’s violations of election law by failing to report campaign-related expenditures and illegally falsifying financial records to keep relevant information from voters as they prepared to cast their votes.
Bragg has previously served as chief deputy attorney general of New York State, and as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. Bragg grew up in New York City, and attended Harvard University for both his undergraduate and legal degrees.
Bragg was elected as the New York County District Attorney in the November 2, 2021 election. In his time as District Attorney, Bragg has prosecuted political fraud, street crimes, hate crimes, drug offenses, tax fraud, wage theft, and tenant harassment.
